In a market full of mass-produced furnishings that quickly degrade and underdeliver, the Intra side table offers a different view - one that celebrates real durability, concrete craftsmanship and smaller scale production.
Cast from weatherproof concrete with a vibrant natural pigment, the Intra Side Table has been built to stand the test of time in any indoor & outdoor setting.
Designed by Tom Robinson, the table’s bold, graphic profile evolves the structural efficiency of an I-Beam, using two vertical walls to create a useful void for storing anything from phones, books & laptops, to wine bottles & chopped wooden logs.
Each Intra Table is hand-cast and finished by the UK’s leading casting workshop, using a reinforced concrete composite, blended with recycled aggregate and sands. The table top is then polished to a smooth, scratch-free surface, so you can confidently place your everyday objects and valuables. A key feature of the design is the signature rectangular void below, which has been optimized to fit a variety of items from large books, vinyl records and double wall sockets, through to wine bottles, gardening tools and chopped wooden logs.
Vibrant colour pigments are added to the liquid concrete before casting, providing colour choices of Earthen Red or a calming Olive Green. Each colour has been created with outdoor and indoor spaces in mind - to contrast or blend with the industrial, the natural and the organic.

Recently, Tom Robinson has been developing editioned products with leading fabricators and makers in England, with the aim to research and redefine the notion of ‘made in UK’.
While visiting Mass Concrete, an expert casting facility on the UK’s southern coast, the designer felt their weatherproof concrete would be a great material to create smaller outdoor tables that could actually last, as opposed to prematurely replaced alternatives currently on the market that often degrade or break much too soon.
Further discussions highlighted that vertical casting - would be an effective process to cast durable mono-material pieces without the need for metal re-inforcements. This process then informed the design parameters of an extrudable profile, as it ensures uniform curing and stability across the piece when de-molded. In order to then minimize weight while maximising strength, Intra’s geometric section and optimized wall thickness were developed, and informed by enduring structures such as roman columns and industrial beams.
‘Each Intra table is cast on a made-to-order basis, intended for smaller scale production and local distribution. With this in mind, cast-concrete feels like an interesting material for a more static furniture piece, as it offers decades of use and durability in all elements, while still being relatively efficient to ship locally and nationally. In the right context and at a smaller scale, concrete can still be a really effective material.’
Intra combines structural integrity, hand craftsmanship and robust design detailing to create an impactful yet functional table that will last for generations.
